xray image visualization

Hi,

Just canvassing for some ideas:

I have some images captured (by a piece of machinery) of a cube-like
object
that passes through a machine. As the cube passes through the machine,
visual images are built of the top, bottom, left and right faces of the
cube. The cube is also xrayed in one dimension (through the top/bottom
faces).

I am working on ways to visualize the cube in 3D. It's fairly trivial
to
build the cube and texture the faces with the visual images, but I'm
looking for some ideas on how to view the xray data.

I'm thinking of something like extruding the 2D xray image into a 3D
cube by creating some sort of translucent fog? Has anybody seen or
heard of anything similar?

TIA,
NL
