Dear colleagues,

one question is bothering me: given a 640x480 color camera, connected via 400Mbit Firewire. Is the following calculation for maximal resolution and fps right?

640 x 480 x 24 Bit = 7 372 800 Bit = 7,3 MBit

+ 15% protocol overhead: 7,3 MBit * 1,15 = 8,4 MBit

400 MBit /s : 8,4 MBit = 48, 19 fps

That is: almost 50 fps! Is the calc right?
So why do I get only 15 or 30 fps from my cameras?

Those are typical format 1/2 modes which support only fixed frame rates.
You should use "format 7" modes.
See the technical manual if your camera supports them at all and how, which framne rates etc...

Region of interest nay help you increase fps, too.
