Thank you for the response. However scanning for 0xFFE9(?) does not
seem valid, I assume you mean 0xFFD9 (M_EOI).

However, with this assumption, what happens if i do not find an M_EOI?
Or is it possible for this sequence to occur in the scan?

In the situation I am in, it is very possible that 0xFFE9 will not
occur in the binary stream. In this case I want to extract as much
valid data as possible. There has to be some way to anticipate the
size of the scan, no?
