Hello there,
I have a 12 bit grey level image with very dark areas and very bright
areas. Within these areas, I have small grey level variations that are of
interest and that I wish to enhance for easy detection.
If I play with the contrast over the whole image, I can clearly enhance
the defects over either the dark areas OR the bright areas, but not both
simultaneously.
Basically I need some kind of Adaptive Image contrast enhancement
algorithm.
Anyone has any idea on how to do this? I am thinking a simple solution
would be to measure the local grey level value and use it to "tune" the
contrast stretching to apply locally. Would that work?
Thanks in advance,
Bob.
The words 'histogram' and 'equalisation' spring to mind .........
