I am trying that idea now. I decided to simplify the problem slightly
and currently only looking for plain rectangle, ignoring the rotated
ones. So I am only searching for vertical and horizontal lines. I
seems to be running into problem because the lines bordering the
rectangle do not show up in the hough line algo when the threshold is
high, and when the threshold is set lower I get too much noise.
I need to play with it a bit more, but seems only to work well when the
background is clear with little noise. I am currently trying to detect
the sign board in a row of shops. Maybe I should put the threshold for
my sober edge detection a bit higher to reduce the edges found.
Anyway, need more fun filled hours of programming :p
