So, do you think it would go from bad to worse or am I the only one who
thinks this status quo stinks? I am the World's biggest proponent of, "If
it's not broke, don't fix it.", but this is broke.

Quite true, but almost none were clearly due to the track and none of it the result of inadequate runoff - Mamola highsided in '88 and missed the race with concussion; Gardner broke his leg in '89 when he highsided in turn six, slid to the bale-protected rail but didn't hit it; Shobert hit a burning-out Magee on the cool-down lap and ended his career while Magee broke a leg in the process in '89; Lawson lost a front brake pad in turn one in practice and slide into a wall and broke his heel, missing half the season; Magee highsided out in six like Gardner, hit his head on the tarmac, spent a couple weeks in a coma, lost the year and essentially ended his GP career; Schwantz low-sided out in 11 and broke his wrist; Mamola saved a massive slide and dislocated his wrist withour crashing - all that in 1990. ... I don't recall a typical crash where someone lost it and rode or slid off the track and contacted a wall, beyond Doohan glancing the bales on the inside into turn 9 after losing control out of the corkscrew in '93. ...
