Hi, I am doing research on a ffmpeg deployment with many linux servers
around the world. It's for an advanced research project funded bySigExVentures. I am deploying a linux grid type network that streams
videos from various sources. Since the clients don't provide
thumbnails, I have to create them. Anyone knows an algorithm for
picking appropriate frames within a video, like analysing the color
map or something ? I am using ffmpeg, so I can change formats (though
it adds latency) and with ffmpeg-PHP, I can grab the frame itself.
Any help would be usefull. Thanks,

That's a cool problem. I'd love to hear more about this from others.
Maybe YouTube uses a special algorithm for this. Keep any response
posted. Thanks,

One of the technics I am investigating is evaluating the amount of
pixels with the same color and if it is too high choosing another
frame.
