Chain coding / Differential chain coding

Hi,

I am using MATLAB but I have to admit that I am newbie in this product. I want to implement chain coding and differential chain coding in order to encode the boundaries of a black-white image. But I haven't found some MATLAB function that can do that job for me. Does anyone know if there is a MATLAB function and if not if there is a source code that can do the job?
