"3) Divide the LDR image by its exposure (relative to a baseline image) to
move all of the images into the same exposure scale.
(4) Average the properly exposed pixels."
A simple average would be naive and foolish. That should be a weighted
average with weights selected to optimize signal to noise ratio.
What are "underexposed pixels?"
