I have registered it to another image using simple geocorrection.
I have also performed a topographic normalization within Erdas
Imagine. I am basically looking at the quality of the outputs that can
be derived from ASTER, so change detection would be a way of looking
at that.I have not investigated bi-directional reflectance modelling.
I am just curious if anyone had encountered it and if there is some
algorithms that deal with correcting for this.

You should be able to correct for this during your orthorectification.
Have you done any geometric pre-processing of the imagery? Also have a
look at bi-directional reflectance modelling. Are you doing change
detection or just mosaicing two adjacent scenes?
