Chinese character

Is there a Chinese character that looks like a 5 with a left-extended top, or
perhaps like "banzai" no "ban" without the left-side swoop?
When preceded with "wood" (Kimura no "ki"), what would it mean?
This appeared a Monk episode concerning martial arts and/or Asian gangs.
