Yeah, when I get tired of reading off the monitor I print stuff out or
practice handwriting. But online material totally outclasses what you
can get in dead-tree format.

Tutorials at pretty much all levels, including slang and informal
language, interactive dictionaries, example sentences for arbitrary
words, google searches for example usages of words and rough frequency
information, animated kanji diagrams, fansubbed anime, manga with
translations, interactive tests for vocab, grammar, kanji, forums,
chatrooms, newsgroups, language exchange via email, language wiki's,
lessons and study programs, test preparation material for things like
the JLPT, culture information, firsthand accounts from people in
Japan, free downloadable learning games, etc etc etc etc.

My advice is get yourself a better monitor, maybe a flatsceen or
something, lookup a newbie tutorial, and get with the program.

I used to love books too. But they cant even begin to compare, imo.
(not searchable, no copy/paste, just dead lumps of dry pulp)

For someone with even the tiniest bit of motivation, internet
self-study is the fastest leaning method available, ime.
