If you were raised in public schools yes. Let us see, there is the ABC
song, I remember all the "Letter People" in kindergarten, mostly because
they scared me. So Mr. M was a "m"outh superimposed over an "M" with beady
eyes and scrawny legs. Mr T was a gleaming mouthful of "t"eeth,
superimposed over a "T", again, with beady eyes and scrawny legs. etc, etc..
*shudder* I skipped a lot of kindergarten classes because of those guys.
Unfortunately, because I was scared, It never registered that they were a
learning tool and I didn't "get" the alphabet until second grade. I could
sing the ABC song, but I didn't associate it with letters. There is Sesame
Street and the various Songs they sang, the letters of the day, etc..
My main point is that as children we were exposed to many mnemonics for
learning the alphabet they are just long forgotten by most people. Well,
not totally forgotten, I'm pretty sure you can still sing the ABC song.
Even if you forgot you know it.
