Thanks Sean, that might be why I am having problems. I have a
Marshall MXL-990 condensor mic (USA) and I have problems the
cable which is made by an oriental manufacturer. Removing the
plug from the mic is very difficult. I was going to buy a German
cable but maybe I should buy a USA cable then. However based on a
post in fj.life.in-japan I have to boycott US products.

Interesting in Japanese you use osu and mesu as well. I think the
term male and female is a bit difficult with XLR connectors
though. Which is which?
