Ah, the name sounds intimidating. Its actually just redhat, a pretty
vanilla distro. (Fedora core is their free, fast changing
desktop/server distro, and they call their for-pay distro
"redhat enterprise")
I like it because for two main reasons: redhat tends to be the
most up to date of all the major distros, and do a better job with
i18n in general compared to most others. (utf-8 locales by default,
the first to use iiimf, etc) (Even though I participated in
im-ja development, Im not sad to let it go in favor of iiimf.)
Its 4 CD's, so its a big download. If you are shopping around
for distros I'd say its worth a shot. Debian is usually reserved
for the more adventurous types, or so Ive heard.
Anyway, I'm curious what you do for fonts? I use kochi gothic for
consoles, because its one of the few Japanese fonts that doesnt
have the accursed yen sign intsead of a backslash. For web browsing
I prefer MS Gothic, and for O/S widgets I prefer Arial unicode.
I have to copy some of these off a windows machine or download them
from various websites whenever I setup a new box. I really wish
there were more freely available high quality Japanese fonts...

There's another cool option that lets you always reply in UTF-8
regardless of the encoding of the message you are replying to.
Those mozilla devs are sharp :)
