I've gone on the record in this ng previously as being perhaps a little more
willing than some to tolerate an analogy between copyright infingement and
theft. Many people do think of it that way (the digital manbiki hou of Japan
being yet another example), and it is a handy way to impress upon potentiall
infringers the gravity of the offense. But you seem to be going beyond
analogies and saying it truly is the same thing (legally speaking) as theft.
That is simply incorrect. And saying so does not mean that information has
no value as an asset. I leave it to you to work out your own non-sequitor
and determine how both can be true at the same time.
