Reminds me of the coffee set that my mother was given as a confirmation
present from a Chinese bloke who got confirmed at the same time. It had
kanji around the rims of each item. They looked impressive to all of us
for a long time, but when I started learning Japanese, I realised they
were upside-down--presumably he wrote the kanji out for the people who
did the transfers, but didn't think to add "this way up".
No, I didn't tell my mother.
