1. What is the 'certain kanji' ?

2. If you are typing _Japanese_ in (for example)
Outlook Express ensure that you have a _Japanese_
encoding* selected. (e.g. not Korean).

3. Check to see whether the same thing happens
regardless of which font you have selected and
in which program you are typing text. If not then
say which program and font you are using when
it occurs.

* Or Unicode if you have to.
