Because fonts like "Boookman Old Style" don't actually
include any kanji (you can check this using the Character
Map accessory) there must be some system to 'grab'
kanji from a font that _does_ include them.
I'm not sure how it works - but if that's somehow
malfunctioning 'white squares' for some kanji might be
a possible outcome.
If so then, theoretically, specifically selecting a font like
MS Gothic that does include kanji (again you can check
with the character map) might help.
As I said though I don't think this is likely to be the
actual problem / solution.
