What is really valued is the expertise (in the descriptions), the
photographs and the quality of the pieces in such a reference work.

There are plenty of what we used to call 'coffee table books'
published with "great expensive color printing on expensive high-gloss
paper" that are still quite inexpensive to buy. World famous experts
like Neil K. Davey do not provide such extensive reference
descriptions without charging for their expertise.

This publication is certainly not expensive for the quality of the
content.
