I don't think it's correct. Roan is 糟毛 or 栗あし毛 according to the EJs.

Well, KK 中辞典 has:

栗あし毛の 《黒や茶に白や灰色のまざったもの》
栗あし毛の動物 《馬など》

and KK Readers has:

a 〈馬などが〉糟毛(かすげ)の《黒・赤・灰・茶などの地に白のさし毛の
混ざった体色の》
n 糟毛(の馬[牛など]) 《特に 断わりがないときは red-〜,
すなわち地色が鹿毛(赤茶色) の場合をいう; ?cf.? →BLUE-ROAN, →STRAWBERRY ROAN》

Eijiro used to have "栗あし毛の : roan", but that's been removed and
replaced with entries pointing to 葦毛. (Perhaps they bought a Genius.)

The JEs don't gloss 葦毛 as roan. GG5 just says "gray", and Sanseidou
Grand Concise has "grey (horse); dappled grey". Sanseidou Exceed is
just "gray horse".

Genius E->J has （馬・牛などが）葦毛（あしげ）の、茶色と白色の混じった。
−名【c】　葦毛の動物≪特に馬≫

And then there's 連銭葦毛(れんせんあしげ) which appears to be blue roan.

Well, that also seems to mean dapple-gray everywhere I look. 

I think ○○-roan is technically different to dapple-○○.
However my point was that 連銭葦毛 is different to 葦毛 without the 連銭.
If 葦毛 is the condition of being roan then 栗あし毛 should just be specifying
what colour roan it is.

Roan on its own is usually brown mixed with white, not gray mixed with white (広辞苑 definition of 糟毛 includes 馬の毛色の名。灰色に白いさし毛
のまじったもの。)

"Yes" ? As far as I could tell you were saying Roan is 糟毛 or 栗あし毛 not 葦毛.

So if roan (on its own) = brown mixed with white
and 糟毛 = gray mixed with white
then shirely 糟毛 <> brown mixed with white
.
