Well, there are varying levels of stupid. Their constant penchant for
casting SMAP and other boy-band bishonen as the leads (to lure in the
younger audiences) tends to be offset by the pathetic acting ability
displayed by these same prettyboys -- thus earning shows derision and low
ratings.


The programme in question, "Yoshitsune", has both male and female "idols".

I've never seen it though so I have no idea about the acting abilities. One
Japanese man I know thinks it is very good.
