Boy you can say that again. I've only heard this term used in the
negative (世間ずれしてない) in condescending reference to
someone who's naive or simple. Ideally, as you mention, no one would
have to become 世間ずれ-ed, so calling someone that would imply
that they've been through the school of hard knocks: not a good thing,
but perhaps not such a bad thing, either.

I think 世間なれしている is a milder version of the same thing.
厭世 (jadedness, world-weariness) is the state of mind that results
from either.
