One time when I went to the barber in Machida, the guy there tried to
tell me that じゃん was actually Machida-ben and had been misattributed
as Yokohama-ben.


Machida is like a blind gut of Tokyo... officially it belongs to Tokyo,
but its almost a part of Kanagawa... 8)


ただですね、横浜弁だというのは間違いだ　と聞いた（見た？）ことも
あるんですよ。
日本国語大辞典を見ると、
東京都新島、山梨市、長野県伊奈・下伊那、静岡県志太郡
となっていて、横浜の名は出てきません。
それとも、横浜弁は標準語扱いになっているのかなあ・・・。
まあ、ともかく、横浜だけではなく、東京周辺といった方がいい
のかもしれません。

なお、日本国語大辞典では「・・ちまう」は標準語扱い。
四迷、漱石、『小公子』・・・にも見られるとのこと。
私の語感からいうと、（東京の）山の手言葉（下町の江戸っ子弁
ではない）。
