You're close. For -meku, how about "take on the look/feel of." So
-meita gives you the past + stative of that.
I suspect it is related somehow to 目、見. 春めく is a standard
dictionary item.
The big question that everyone is afraid to ask: is that the same -meku
as in hatameku, hirameku, honomeku? At least two of those have a visual
aspect, but wouldn't seem to mean "come to look like."
