ISTM that would be understood all the way to the westerly coast of this
here Yewnited States, but USians might not use it naturally (I don't
know how they talk east of the Sierra Nevadas). I'd tend to think of
branches, since I reserve tines for really sharp objects like pitchforks
and fishing gigs. In describing a buck outfitted with 'em we might say
"You shoulda seen that six-point buck out in the back forty today."
