This is the most important section of your whole post, I think. The
biggest mistake I've seen people make with Heisig is to treat it as a
magic system that allows you to learn kanji with little to no effort.
This feeling seems to be reinforced because the early chapters have
detailed stories (and you probably already know a number of the kanji
in them). But there's a high level of burnout with the system, though
I'm not sure any more than with traditional methods.
