William Lyon Mackenzie, Louis-Joseph Papineau, and Joseph Howe will be
surprised to learn that Canadians didn't have to struggle and fight to get
responsible, representative, democratic government.
Did the Colonial Secretary just write to Australia one day and say "By the
way, we've decided to let you elect the actual decision-making part of your
government."?
