The following submission to EDICT/JMdict:

いもしない /(adj) (1) invisible/unseen/(2) vague/mysterious/(3) imaginary/

has arrived, and I am curious about it. The submitter
has quoted apassage from 「シネマの中にいる他人」:

ここに至って観客は、ファースト・ショットを何者かの見た目と推測して自分
たちの誤りに気づかされるのだが、しかしこの映画冒頭、わずか二つのショッ
トを見ながら観客が経験させらる以上のような心の動きは、まさにいもしない
人間の視線に脅える主人公の心の動きそのままではないのか。[...] 不安の映
像を誰か特定の人物の見た目に還元して納得しようとする観客の心の動きこそ
が、いもしない目撃者の目を気にして脅える主人公の焦燥感を生む。

where いもしない occurs twice. It can be found using Google, etc.
in similar contexts.

- where does いもしない come from? I have only seen that kana
sequence in things like 思いもしない/特別扱いもしない/etc.
- is the suggested meaning adequate?
