目標は授業設計をするときの、学生の思考を触発するメディア教材の選択および活用方法について理解する。
Our aim is that when planning classes we should know how to select stimulating material for the students and how to put it into use.
I like those English translations.
The third Japanese, I think, would become better when you add more words and close the sentence like 「目標は、、、、、理解することに(or で)ある。」 or 「目標は、、、、、理解にある。」。
Thank you. It may be my personal whim but I think it looks like a である sort of sentence so I think I'll go with that option.
