「愛と哀しみの果て」は俗受けしたけど何といっても映像のきれいな映画だった。
Although it was a popular movie, Out of Africa was more of a coffee table
movie than anything else.

Seems like the entire emotive clause is ignored. Coffee table is TOO much
license with the translation... Nothing mentioned about the sadness of the
film.

It strikes me as a reasonable translation. You say that the translation
doesn't mention the "sadness" of the film, but do you realize that "愛と哀し
みの果て" is the Japanese title for "Out of Africa"? How would you have
translated the sentence?

Didn't get that... Until after posting (naturally). Coffee table is still
excessively artistic license. I don't even know what that means.
