Didn't get that... Until after posting (naturally). Coffee table is still
excessively artistic license. I don't even know what that means.

It's a reference to the pretty books that people keep on their
coffee tables to impress other people.

People don't keep pretty movies around to impress people... A statement in
Japanese that says a movie is pretty translated as a coffee table book kept
to impress people... Just overly translated. Translation, though not
necessarily literal, should error on the side of caution and be more
simple... Like despite it being popular it was quite artistic or something
like that...

If I were to describe something that way, it would be damning
with faint praise. "Coffee table book" is not a good thing in my
lexicon.

I guess I like coffee tables... And you don't.

I have a very fine antique coffee table of solid walnut, thank
you. I don't put picture books on it for other people to look
at.

My books are meant to be read, not looked at.
