In Japanese, 「彼は報われるさ。」.
No. "It serves him right" is usually said when you have just heard about
something bad happening to someone, and you feel that the bad thing is just.
For example, if you heard about a bully being beaten up, you might say
"It serves him right" if you believed that it is a good thing that the
bully had been hurt.

So when you heard the news about Zarqawi, you might say "It serves him
right." Unless you are a fanatical Islamist, I guess.

However, this time I would like to ask you about the tense of the verb.
In these threads, there are no examples using the past tense except one of
my examples. I think that sometimes or very often "It served him right."
must sound more appropriate to some cases. "It will serve him right."
may be much more appropriate in case the problem is not solved yet.
