When I read muchan's post in Japanese I feel I get a truer picture of his personality than when I read his posts in English.

When I read Ben's post in English, I feel I get a truer picture of
his personality than when I read his posts in Japanese... sigh.

Probably main differnce is _audience_. I don't know if this word
is used for Usenet messages, but when writing in Japanese, I suppose
readers belong to (or have deep understanding of?) Japanese culture,
not only language, and I behave in that culture myself?

No, probably the main difference is my incompetency of English language,
since I stopped effor to "perfectionalize" long before someone posted
about stonedness... as you know.

But while living abroad and not speaking Japanese every day, there are
many friends who knows me very well, while communicating in other languages
than Japanese, I don't think you get "truer picture" than these friend
get from communicating with other languages...

I don't know.

(but Ben, don't you think you talk too often about "the posters themselves"
than about "what they/we are talking about"? Well, I quit here.)
