Hi Don,
Right now I use windows XP, latest updates installed and agent
3.3/32.846.
I have unicode installed. I can see hiragana, katakana and kanji in
all my applications (browser, word, ...).
I have done nothing to agent, because I asumed that agent used the
windows interface to acess fonts and I didn't think make any
adjustments to the news reader.
Thanks for you help Don,
Darph

What news readers are you guys using?
Agent since 1995.
I use Agent newsreader but the damn thing won't display kanji,
hiragana or katakana. Although my system is fully configured to
display the character set.
Of course it will, but you have to know the magic words to solve the
puzzel.
Not all OSes will support Japanese in an English system (note all the
assumptions implicit in that statement). WinXP will support it very
well. Early versions of Agent won't support Japanese without some
outside help, and it remains klunky. Newer versions are much better,
but not quite Unicode level yet.
Agent is great to use for downloads and reading roman text, but I'm
missing something, ne?
I think there are several amongst us using Agent, so give a quick
rundown on your system--what OS and version? I see you have the latest
released version of Agent, so you're set for there. Do you have
Japanese or Unicode fonts on your system already? Can you see two-byte
(CJK) characters in your other applications like your browser? What have
you tried so far in Agent to make it work?
From there someone or other can begin pointing you to the noble manifoldpath to J-capable nirvana.
thanks for the reply,
Well, after seeing that I sort of had to reply so I wouldn't feel like I
was stealing, y'know?
