Since we've been having so much interesting discussion on YOU's blog, I'd
been checking the site and saw this entry before I read your post. I
thought this was one of his simpler entries. Now that I see some of the
responses, it may not be as simple as I thought. Nevertheless, at the risk
of putting my foot in my mouth, this was my initial reaction to the
passage.

どうぞ can have many meanings. It could be here that he is referring to the
rose being offered. However, based upon the PS, I interpreted the どうぞ to
mean that he was in someone's way and was telling the person to pass and
not to worry about him. Pretty much as if the other person had stopped so
as not to get in the way of the author taking the picture. The author, on
the other hand, was a little embarassed by being in the way. He graciously
told the person to pass and made light of his tendency to get in people's
way when he takes pictures.

I see that there are other interpretations, so please don't take mine as
gospel. I originally took 突っ込まれそう in the sense of a truck breaking down in
the middle of the road and blocking traffic. I see other people look at it
a little differently.

Since I read a lot of mystery novels and popular fiction, I am very
familiar with the term 魔界. Originally, it was used to refer to the demon
world. However, in recent fiction, it often refers to a more benign
magical world. So, I don't think the author was trying to refer to the
rose as evil.

And I agree with everyone's comment on あんまり. Used with the negative it
means, "not too much, not very much, etc." However, it is often used with
the positive to mean, "too much, so much, etc."
