There's a citation (under 'iced') for 'iced cream' in the 17thC:
#1688 Lond. Gaz. No. 2383/2 All such Fruits, Iced Creams, and such other
#Varieties as the Season afforded.
but by the mid 18thC 'ice cream' seems to have taken hold:
#1744 in Pennsylvania Mag. Hist. & Biogr. (1877) I. 126 Among the
#rarities..was some fine ice cream
#1751 H. GLASSE Art of Cookery (ed. 4) 333 (heading) To make Ice Cream
Well, I hope Hawaii is still ahead of the rest of the world with "shave
ice."
