Double negation?



彼女が来ない の じゃない か と私は心配しているのです。
It is translated as
"I'm worrying that she won't turn up."

I don't see the need for じゃない there. I'd put it as
彼女が来ないか と私は心配しているのです。

Only if "yes" on the current question, proceed to the next one

1. Is the above grammatically feasible at all?
2. Does it still mean the same thing?
3. What is the stylistical deviation between those two?
