Has anyone used Japanese voice recognition software?
I've volounteered to translate several hours of interviews for a
documentary. The most tedious part of the process is transcribing what
is being said. This process is tedious enough in one's first language.
I have some Japanese friends I can ask to help, but I want to keep them
as friends!
I haven't had much experience with voice recognition software in any
language, but I was hoping it might be possible to run the tapes
through the voice recognition software first to get a rough
transcription. Is this realistic?
I don't know what your budget is, but you may want to consider using a
secretarial agency. I think you'll find the price to type the interviews
and provide you an electronic copy to be fairly reasonable. You get speed,
accuracy, and keep your Japanese friends. It's best to ask them to
contribute to the translation rather than the transcription.
