Another pronounciation question - hotaru ga ike



One of the stops along the line home is 蛍池 (with an invisible が),
but the guards always pronounce the ga ike bit more like gai'ke than
ga'ike, if that makes sense to you.

Is this a Kansai thing or specific to this name or some sort of general
rule for all internal "ai"? Or even a HLLHLH thing?
