Could it be then that multiradical kanji lookup is most popular because
it's the easiest lookup method to get to? I like it as a lookup method
myself. But I also know that one of the reasons I use it is because I
have
it as a direct bookmark. I'm not suggesting you change anything. Just
curious. I like things as they are. Last thing we want is for WWWJDIC to
get a Microsoft stigma. (笑)
Oh really? I'd definitely suggest changing it. Have you tried the system at
"jisho.org"? It's miles ahead of WWWJDIC's, it includes look-aheads and so
on.
Perhaps it's not my place to say so but there is a mailing list on the
edict/jmdict/whatever systems so it might be nice if Phil and other
interested parties joined in.
I'm not suggesting changing it because, although I used to use WWWJDIC
extensively, I am now only an occasional WWWJDIC user. I now use installed
LogoVista dictionaries as my main resource. Thus, I am reluctant to impose
my preferences on people who use WWWJDIC more frequently than I do.
I am familiar with jisho.org. However, I don't use online Japanese
dictionaries that much. When I do, I prefer to use Jim Breen's WWWJDIC
Japanese-English Dictionary Server for practical and sentimental reasons.
On the practical side, I am familiar with the interface. On the
sentimental side, it was the best resource available when I needed it. Now
that I no longer need it, I still consider myself to be a loyalist.
