In the yosahoi bushi, what does the "yosa hoi" and "hoi" mean?
I quote the first line here.
The refrain is:
Does it mean anything in particular? There ar
e a lot of meaning in
goo国語辞典 for ほい, but non
e for よさほい。I can't see any
meanings in goo that
make the song make sense, except perhaps for:
1
¼æï¼(1)
£ããããæã«çºããæã声ã(2)失æ...[
らに]
if the song's protagonist has, erm, "uketotta" a
"musume".
Thanks in advance for any help.
Could someone clever please explain to me, in simple terms designed to
enlighten one of the meanest understanding, why I keep getting these
posts in which some of the stuff is sensible Japanese and some of the
stuff is mojibake.
I checked the headers and could see:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"
However, when I set Text encoding in Unison to UTF8 half of the stuff is
still mojibake.
This has been happening a lot lately. Cindy's posts, which I have been
seeing since she started using a new email address, are commonly mixed
up this way. It's the same thing with some other posters.
Is it that base64 as opposed to 7bit thing? Can we make these base64
people stop it?
What's the deal? I run a Mac because I don't want to bother with knowing
too much about all the background crap, just as I don't care how my TV
works so long as it works. I have other fish to fry.
If the problem is that I am too stupid to see something bloody obvious,
break it to me, but break it gently, eh?
Unless you're really attached to Unison (and I know you paid good money
for the thing), try Thunderbird: it's not great, but it seems to handle
all the various character sets without seizing up too much. As for why
you're having problems, I have no idea*, a state I'm becoming
increasingly comfortable in.
*Actually, that's not quite true: I see that your
Content-Transfer-Encoding is 8bit, while the post you're replying to is
base64; beyond _that_ I have no idea.

Besides the device, the box should contain:
* Eight little rectangular snippets of paper that say "WARNING"
* A plastic packet containing four 5/17 inch pilfer grommets and two
club-ended 6/93 inch boxcar prawns.
YOU WILL NEED TO SUPPLY: a matrix wrench and 60,000 feet of tram
cable.
IF ANYTHING IS DAMAGED OR MISSING: You IMMEDIATELY should turn to your
spouse and say: "Margaret, you know why this country can't make a car
that can get all the way through the drive-through at Burger King
without a major transmission overhaul? Because nobody cares, that's
why."
WARNING: This is assuming your spouse's name is Margaret.
