I was saying, that when -ni naru/suru and -to naru/suru are both possible,
-to version is more subjective in the speakers attitude. But it's difficult
to come with context that both sounds natural, and Bart came with one,
so I start to ride it, we (or I) felt it a little forced context, but
I didn't come with other good context to illustrate, so went on with it,
then Sean asked in the sense of "is it natural?" I frankly wrote "more natural
to say ...". That was the flow of the thread.

Still, if I asked the difference, again, I say, -to is more subjective.
How subjective, it may differ in each context. If you are interested further,
please come with some examples...

岩波国語辞典 has small description about the difference.
(with examples like 「戦禍をこうむって流民となる」etc.)
（２）（ア）は一般に「に」でも表せるが、「に」がその帰結を全く自然だと
とらえた表現なのに対して、「と」は多少とも意外またはあえて言うという
気持ちを伴う。
