"Nani ni kiyomi..." Syntax Question

My Japanese teacher, a native speaker, wasn't really able to explain why
you say:
何にきょうみがありますか?
instead of
何をきょうみがありますか?
If there is a literal, definable, difference between the two, can
someone give it?
