Cindy already made me jealous talking about their 24" computer monitor.
Yeah, you can open two web pages side by side and switch back and
forth. It's great. It also rotates 90 degrees, which I don't really
find useful unless I am a radiologist.
I guess I am going to be an Avon sales person and deduct all expenses.
I knew I had reason to be jealous. This sounds exactly like the Gateway
monitor I was looking at the other day. Last spring I bought a 21" Gateway
monitor that's really great. Not only is it a high resolution PC monitor
but it also accepts HDTV, DVD, and a host of other video inputs. You can
either switch between the inputs full screen or one input as a picture
inside the image of another input. Since, among other things, I use the
computer for language learning - internet text, e-books, sophisticated
electronic dictionaries, video, and audio files - having all the language
learning multimedia on one display is invaluable.
Now, I see that Gateway makes the same model in a 24" version. What's
more, there's a device that hooks up to it that adds speakers and audio
inputs to the mix. When I got mine, I told the sales representative that
the only thing missing was the capability to input sound and plug in a set
of headphones. (For language learning, I prefer headphones). So, right
now I have to route all the sound through another box to which I hook up
the headphones. I really want the 24" model but my 21" monitor is working
just fine and, much as I want to, I can't just throw away money every time
there's an upgrade.
The reason your monitor sounds like the Gateway is that there are not a
whole lot of monitors that can flip 90 degrees. I've never used mine
flipped. However, Windows Vista (at least some of the versions)
incorporate tablet PC features in the operating system. Tablet users
frequently prefer a portrait over landscape mode or they like to switch
from one to the other. With a Wacom tablet, or the like, and a monitor
that can rotate, you can now emulate these features on a desktop computer.
It's indeed a Gateway as you described. I was so impressed that I
showed your post to my husband. He said to me "Yours is bigger."
If you want one, aren't you expecting any tax refund? You can use
Turbo Tax on-line and can file on-line and can get directly deposited
into your bank account. Once you use Turbo Tax on-line, it will
transfer all your basic information to your next tax return.
Wait a minute. Instead of getting refund, do you have to pay? That
would be a different story.
