Yes, sure!
(everyone becomes an American as default, unless saying she/he is not...
US is the default country of anything Internetty.)

phew, that's alot less of a mouthful! is 私はロシア系です on it's own okay?
the person i'm speaking to would be probably be in the same country as
me, so in English it'd feel awkward to specify that i'm from that
place... but i'm not too sure if ロシア系 is too vague on it's own.


私はロシア系です should be enough, on paper, or on the context that listener
knows you're talking about your origin... otherwise, maybe it's good idea
to add a little like: 私の家族(/親)はロシア系です。(maybe Ben was right. 8)

"私はロシア民族です” sounds like "*I* AM THE Russian NATION!" 8)
