I have an English install of Windows XP SP2 completely up to date, and
Office 2007. I have installed Japanese IME just through control panel
regional and language options > languages.
In Word, I highlight some Japanese, and click on the phonetic guide
symbol, but instead of automatically guessing the reading, I am asked
to input the furigana for each kanji manually.
I was wondering what I need to do / what I need to install for Word to
automatically insert the reading for me. I know it works on Japanese
PC's, and it has worked on other installs of English XP SP2.
Maybe the language needs to be set to Japanese? (I've had the experience
of it assigning Pinyin readings to kanji before.) Or perhaps some
additional proofing tools need to be installed...

I kept my finger crossed thinking that I might regret the move but it installed the Japanese fonts and I can see the page as it should be... ... Re: PDIC for Eijiro on Pocket PC ... I copied the wince.nls from this page over the one on my PPC device.... This does the trick for reading Japanese and persuading PDIC and Decuma ... The quality of the fonts in JWPce's menus... and fairly easy to install.... (sci.lang.japan)
