I am coming to think that it's sometimes too funny to learn Japanese
in English mind. You want to learn Japanese, but you resist
learning. You don't want to learn from me. Is it because I am female?
Maybe, you are willing to learn from muchan, Ito-san, Ueshiba-san and
other Japanese men.

Sorry, Cindy. I often have problems because I am English. Irony is a basic part of my culture, but Japanese and American people often do not seem to realise that I am being ironic.

I have been in Japan for fourteen years, so of course I know what 失礼し てもよろしいですか means. Japanese people who know me realise I am joking when I reply, はい、どうぞ、失礼してください or, だめだ、失礼しな いでください. As you say, it is funny thinking about Japanese from an English point of view.

I am happy to learn Japanese from anyone, Cindy. Male or female, it matters not, but for pity's sake let it be someone with a sense of humour!
