you are at least half Japanese...
Actually, *I* have a strange feeling when I say I am English, but not for the reason you think. My grandmother on my mother's side was Irish, and my father's family was of Scottish origin, but moved to the north of England in the 19th century. So, from that point of view, I am more Celtic than Anglo-Saxon ("Engl"-ish, of course, means "Angl"-ish, i.e., "Anglo-Saxon"-ish). And I lived in the south of Spain for many years, and have acquired an Andalusian soul!
So I am not really very English, and don't really even like the idea of being English very much, but the real explanation is too long and complicated, so I just say I am English.
My family name comes from the fact that, when I married my Japanese wife, we put the two family names together. I have no Japanese blood.
(I hope my son will have identity of both parents...)
I hope the same for my daughter.
John
