The whole sentence from Makino-Tsutsui DIJG, page 222, reads
(pardon my romaji)...
"Asa-meshi o tabete-konakatta no de, hachi ga hette naranai"
where "naranai" is incorrectly used in place of the correct
"tamaranai."
Golly, do I have to learn a new meaning for はち? That one's not in my
LRD, but it's too many letters to be a typo.
